Production Chemist AquaPhoenix Scientific, located in Hanover, PA has an opening for a Production Chemist primarily responsible for the developing, producing, and customizing chemical solutions and reagents for the commercial water testing and treatment industry. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with benefits. As an integral part of the operations, our production chemists play an integral role in our daily operations, providing technical and process oversight throughout the production lifecycle. The Production Chemist is a hands-on position that requires a balance of trade and industry knowledge combined with the following areas of critical focus and skills: Formulation Development to conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses necessary for quality and process control. Process Optimization to improve existing processes to enhance yield, reduce costs, and increase efficiency. Collaboration is necessary to work along cross functioning teams such as sales, R&D, quality assurance, and production planning to formulate new and existing products. Documentation is a must with a focus on attention to detail, superior record keeping and compliance regulations. Safety to implement procedures that ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. AquaPhoenix Scientific considers applicants with diverse backgrounds, education, and work experience; however, applicants for the Production Chemist position will frequently have a combined education and/or work experience that is a minimum of an associate's degree in chemistry or equivalent and at least three or more years' work experience in or a bachelor's degree in chemistry. Other key areas of responsibilities include: Accurately measure and weigh chemicals to proper precision for preparation of solutions, compounds, or reagents closely following the BOM. Batch and adjust formulas until product functionality meets specifications identified by R&D objectives and customer requirements. Conduct technical testing to evaluate product performance; record test results, organize data, perform computations, prepare reports and analysis using standard procedures and guidelines Prepare technical documentation to support manufacturing such as production batch records, laboratory SOP's, protocols, technical training material, etc. Maintain laboratory supplies and inventory to fully support the needs of the lab and proactively submit requests for supplies to avoid operational delays Accurately perform quality checks such as titrations, pH and conductivity testing Conduct laboratory operations in compliance with the ISO Accredited Quality Management System Create work orders for the production of chemicals, create and modify Safety Data Sheets and Certificates of Airworthiness Use, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instrumentation to include meters and balances Ability to meet EPA 40CFR 262.17 regulation for handling, cleaning, and collecting chemicals. Other helpful skills and qualifications include: Familiarity and knowledge of ISO9001 standards, Lean manufacturing, and Kanban initiatives. Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office products such as Outlook. Speak, read, and write English to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and/or instructions. Wear appropriate PPE as required by Company and OSHA standards. Demonstrate a positive work ethic and a sense of urgency in completing work assignments; maintaining a proactive "can do" approach to all responsibilities. Able to stand, sit, move, bend, twist for extended periods of time and safely lift up to 50 lbs. Execute assignments in an ethical, accurate, timely, and safe manner with the ability to perform tasks through to completion.
